Springtime Elephant Bracelet

The snow is melting! Now that it is getting into the high 30’s and low 40’s it FINALLY feels like spring is coming! I don’t know about you but I associate spring with colorful pastel-y things. So to show my appreciation and excitement for spring, I made this colorful elephant bracelet:

This was super easy to make. You just need jewelry wire, beads, crimp beads and end clasps.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Attach your end clasp to a jump ring and thread your jewelry wire through the ring

2. String on your crimp bead and create a tight loop around the jump ring

3. Clamp it shut using pliers

4. String on your beads

5. Attach another jump ring to your last end clasp

6. Thread the wire through the jump ring, keeping everything nice and tight and close to your final bead

7. Clamp it shut and put it on!

Beaded Spoons

I made these spoons right before Christmas time at a women’s Christmas craft and tea event at my church.

Prior to the event, I had seen beaded spoons in a cute little shop downtown and on Pinterest. I always thought it’d be a fun project.

The spoons in this picture are curved as they are meant to be hung as ornaments on a Christmas tree. You can bend the spoons to make ornaments (or just curved serving ware) or you can just leave them flat. You can personalize them any way you want. They make good hostess gifts, housewarming gifts, baby shower gifts, or if you are looking to dress up some serving ware for special occasions or parties. I saw a cute tutorial here where baby spoons were decorated with beads. I also saw some using letter beads to spell out names.

Using 20-22 gauge craft wire, loop around inside a bead until the wire is attached firmly to bead. You can either string on beads at this point, or you can place the bead where you want on the spoon handle and secure it in place with the wire. I found it was easier to do it this way rather than string on all the beads at once. I wrapped wire a few times around the spoon handle in between each bead for more security. If I had had some tools other than my hands I could have probably made some cool wire designs. So if you have a round nose pliers you can space beads out on the handle and make swirly patterns with the wire.

To finish, just wrap wire in between a few beads at the top, cut wire and tuck in bead openings or under some wire that has already been attached to the spoon handle.

Note: these spoons are NOT dishwasher safe!
